Process overview

MS campus recruiting begins in late August, with superdays running through October. The process involves a recorded HireVue, first-round interviews (phone or video), and a superday at a major office.

    Research the specific division you're applying to. IB, Sales & Trading, and Equity Research have very different interview styles and technical expectations — a one-size-fits-all preparation will not work.

    Morgan Stanley often asks candidates to pitch a stock or investment idea. Prepare at least one well-researched thesis you can defend under probing follow-up questions about risks, valuation, and exit catalysts.

    Understand MS's key businesses and recent high-profile deals. Interviewers appreciate candidates who can speak to the firm's competitive positioning relative to peers.

    Behavioural questions probe leadership and teamwork. Prepare specific stories using the STAR format; vague generalisations score significantly lower than concrete, structured examples.

  5. 5

    The HireVue is algorithmically scored before a human reviews it. Speak clearly, maintain eye contact with the camera, structure answers concisely, and keep each response under two minutes.
