Process overview
Evercore runs one of the most selective summer analyst programmes in elite boutique banking. Recruiting runs from August with a single superday, and the process is heavily technical with a focus on advisory depth.
- 1
Evercore is deeply technical. Your DCF must be flawless — know the mechanics of WACC (beta selection, capital structure adjustments), terminal value sensitivity, and normalised EBITDA adjustments inside and out.
- 2
Study Evercore's landmark advisory transactions, especially high-profile restructurings, M&A mandates, and capital markets assignments. Specific deal knowledge signals genuine interest and research effort.
- 3
As an elite boutique, Evercore emphasises advisory quality over deal volume. Be able to articulate clearly why you prefer the advisory model over a bulge bracket balance sheet — and why that suits your long-term goals.
- 4
Restructuring is a major Evercore strength. Even for generalist IB roles, a basic understanding of distressed situations, fulcrum securities, out-of-court vs. Chapter 11 processes, and DIP financing will impress your interviewer.
- 5
Evercore rewards proactive thinking. Come with questions that show you've engaged deeply with their business model, team structure, and deal philosophy — passive candidates who simply answer questions rarely receive offers.
