Process overview
Citi campus recruiting runs from August with superdays in October–November. The process includes an online application, HireVue, and one or two rounds of interviews before a superday.

Citi has an unusually strong cross-border and emerging-markets franchise. Interviewers are impressed by candidates who understand its global footprint, not just US M&A — mention LatAm, APAC, or CEEMEA transactions if relevant.

Valuation questions are standard. DCF, trading comps, and basic LBO concepts are all fair game. Accounting fundamentals — especially linking the three financial statements — come up regularly.

Citi explicitly screens for resilience. Prepare clear examples of how you handled setbacks, operated under ambiguity, or performed under pressure — the more specific and quantified, the better.

The firm has a growing capital markets business. Understanding how equity offerings, investment-grade bonds, and high-yield debt are structured and priced strengthens your candidacy beyond pure M&A knowledge.

Citi interviews tend to be conversational rather than drill-based. Be ready to discuss ideas, share opinions on markets, and demonstrate intellectual curiosity — rote answers to canned questions will fall flat.
