    LBO modelling is central to every Blackstone interview. Practice building a fully integrated LBO from scratch — entry valuation, debt sizing, EBITDA bridge, equity return waterfall — and know how to flex returns using entry/exit multiples and leverage assumptions.

    Prepare at least two investment pitches for companies you'd buy in an LBO. Cover entry thesis, value creation levers (operational improvement, add-ons, multiple expansion), key risks, and a projected exit with IRR/MoIC.

    Due diligence thinking matters as much as modelling. Interviewers want to hear how you'd validate key assumptions, identify red flags in a data room, and stress-test a deal under adverse scenarios.

    Blackstone expects precision. Errors in arithmetic or model assumptions during case studies are weighted heavily — discipline yourself to slow down, double-check your work, and flag assumptions explicitly.

    Culture fit is a genuine filter. Blackstone values intellectual intensity, ownership mindset, and long-term orientation. Have specific, concrete examples of each from prior academic or work experience.
